Online Therapy in South Carolina

Secure sessions with a licensed South Carolina therapist, wherever you are in the state

You don't have to live near Charleston to work with us. Our therapists are licensed in South Carolina, which means we can see you anywhere in it — and the session is the same session we would have if you walked into our Mount Pleasant office.

In-person sessions are available too, if you're close enough to visit.

Who this is for

Therapists aren't spread evenly across a state. If you live somewhere with a short list of options, or the person who works with what you're dealing with is two hours away, meeting online changes the arithmetic. So does a week that doesn't leave room for a drive on either side of an appointment.

People work with us online because of where they live, because of what their schedule looks like, or because being in their own space makes it easier to say the difficult thing. All of those are good reasons.

What we work with

  • Anxiety — racing thoughts, constant planning, a body that won't settle
  • Depression — low mood, withdrawal, losing hold of the person you want to be
  • Trauma — past experiences that keep affecting the present, including EMDR
  • Relationships — the same argument on repeat, distance, rebuilding trust
  • Substance use — noticing it's costing more than it gives back
  • Feeling stuck — knowing something needs to change without being able to name what

How it works

You get a secure link before your session. Nothing to install, no account to set up — you click it at your appointment time and your therapist is there.

What you need: a device with a camera, an internet connection good enough for video, and somewhere you can talk without being overheard. It doesn't have to be your house. People meet us from a parked car on a lunch break more often than you'd think.

The one firm requirement is that you're physically in South Carolina during the session. That's a licensing rule, not our preference.

All four of our therapists work online

Not a separate virtual team — the same people, the same approaches, the same rates as meeting in person. Kyra works with trauma and uses EMDR. Abby works with anxiety, depression and substance use. Alexis works with couples and is trained in the Gottman Method. Michael works with people who know something needs to change but can't yet name what.

Read about each of them and book directly, or let Stacey, our Clinical Coordinator, help you choose.

Common questions about online therapy

Do I have to live in Charleston?

No. Our therapists are licensed in South Carolina, so we can work with you wherever you are in the state — Columbia, Greenville, Rock Hill, Myrtle Beach, Florence, Beaufort, or anywhere else.

Where do I need to be during a session?

Physically located in South Carolina. That is a licensing requirement rather than a preference, and it applies to any therapist licensed in a single state.

It does not have to be your home. People meet with us from a parked car, a private office, or a spare room — wherever you can close a door.

Is online therapy as effective as meeting in person?

For most of what people bring to us, research has not found a meaningful difference in outcome. What matters more is the fit between you and your therapist, and whether you come consistently.

Some work does benefit from being in the room. If that turns out to be true for you, we will say so.

What do I need to make it work?

A device with a camera, an internet connection good enough for video, and somewhere you can speak without being overheard. You get a link before your session — there is nothing to install and no account to create.

Is it private?

Sessions run on a secure telehealth platform, and the same confidentiality rules apply as they would in our office.

Can we do couples therapy online?

Yes. Partners can join from the same room or from two different places, which is often easier than coordinating schedules to be in one building at one time.

How much does it cost?

The same as meeting in person. Most therapists at Everest Therapy Solutions offer 50-minute individual therapy sessions for $165 and 50-minute couples therapy sessions for $195. Michael Chester's rates differ.

We are out-of-network with insurance. If you have a PPO plan, it may reimburse part or all of the cost — we provide a superbill and walk you through how to submit it.

Can I switch between online and in person?

Yes, if you are close enough to visit the Mount Pleasant office. Some people do most sessions online and come in occasionally.
