Everest Therapy Solutions
Celena Richards, MA, LPCA

My name is Celena Richards, and I am here to help. I became a therapist because therapy has helped me, and I want to share that gift with others. I first started going to therapy in 2012, and I know that working with my therapist has helped—and continues to help—me thrive and function after experiencing trauma, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and managing life with a chronic condition.
I am deeply passionate about my work and strive to support each individual as best as I can. I recognize that every person is unique and requires an approach tailored specifically to them. While I have training and experience as a therapist, you are the expert on your life. I am here to guide you based on your experiences and what works for you. Together, we can determine what that looks like.
I work hard to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore whatever you need to. My role is not to judge or give advice but to help you gain clarity about what you need or want to achieve. I also consider myself very open-minded, always eager to learn and expand my skills to provide the best possible support.
How can I help?
• Create a safe space for you to be yourself so that together we can work toward the life you want to live.
• Process events—big and small. When emotions, thoughts, or experiences aren’t properly processed, they can get stuck. I can help you work through these so they no longer hold you back, allowing you to gain clarity.
• Strengthen your sense of self and identity. I love incorporating mind-body work because I believe the connection between the two is essential for overall well-being. We can focus on strengthening this relationship so that you feel more like you and more connected to others and the world around you.

I am passionate about several specialty areas, and I am continually learning and growing in these fields. My specialties have developed from both personal experience and professional interest. These include:
• Trauma
• Anxiety
• Chronic pain/chronic illness
• Intrusive thoughts
• Neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism Spectrum)
• Dissociation
• Identity and intuitive work
I offer both individual and family sessions and enjoy working with all ages, including children and adolescents.
My training includes experiential therapy, mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Experiential therapy integrates various therapeutic approaches, allowing me to individualize our sessions even further. I also offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based method that helps individuals process past trauma, current stressors, and future challenges.
Additionally, I have done extensive research on the nervous system and Polyvagal Theory, which provides valuable insight into how our bodies respond to stress and how to relieve it. I have a strong passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which aligns with my holistic approach to therapy.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) in South Carolina. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in International Studies with a concentration in Europe, along with a minor in Psychology. I later obtained my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from The Citadel.
I currently live in Charleston, SC, with my husband, our son, and our two Siamese cats.
